“The Carriere Motion in the Invisalign Ocean“
Dr. Laurie McNamara McClatchey was born and raised here in Ann Arbor and is delighted to pursue her professional career in the town in which she was raised. Dr. McNamara left Ann Arbor for four years to attend Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, before returning to The University of Michigan for dental school followed by her three-year residency program in orthodontics.
Dr. McNamara is very involved in teaching orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, while serving as an adjunct clinical associate professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Her teaching responsibilities include overseeing the clinical care provided by orthodontic residents along with her duties as course director of two didactic classes, providing an education in advanced techniques in orthodontics to both dental students and graduate orthodontic residents. In addition, she has lectured at annual sessions of the American Association of Orthodontists as well as other national and international meetings.
Dr. McNamara and her husband Stephen have two children, Sophia and Alex. When not at the office, Dr. Laurie enjoys volunteering at her children’s school, and cheering for her kids in their athletic and musical endeavors. Mike Callan a dental gradaduate from U. of Iowa and an orthodontic grfaduate from U. of Michigan. He has practiced clinical orthodontics for over 30 year and taught part time for over 10 years. To pursue his passion of educating the next generation of Orthodontists, Mike transitioned to full time academics serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinic Director at the U. of Iowa Orthodontics Program. With a keen interest in biomechanics, an early adapter of TADs and a relatively late adopter (but big fan of) clear aligners, he has truly enjoyed and excelled at clinical orthodontics. He has spoken to the ISO, AAO, numersous regional dental groups and most recently, the Moyers Symposium. He sees himself as Iowa’s 11th resident and enjoys incorporating this era’s new tech with the tried-and-true biomechanical principles of conventional orthodontics.
Mike is happily married, has three children and one grandchild. His most passionate hobby would be Service Dentistry for which he is being named the AAO’s 2021 Humanitarian of the Year. Interesting fact: Mike Callan was present at the original GORP when he was a resident at U. of M. so this is a huge honor for him to speak to this crowd!
